This is a horrific trade offer my man
For who?
For the Mariners, that’s not even close to fair deal. I don’t think you’ve got a great grasp on the Mariners OF situation either, Lewis is a total wildcard with his injury history so we’re actually pretty thin there.
Trammel and Miller would be closer to a deal I’d say
Lmao
No way. He will be free agent in 2024 and his arbitration won’t exactly be cheap in 2023. Reds would probably trade him for far less than Kelenic at the trade deadline in 2022 or 2023.
I like Castillo as a pitcher but I think he would be a bad fit for Seattle. He struggles in the cold—something he he’s admitted to. And if fans are stressed by the Robbie ray experience, well, the Castillo experience is even more intense.
Lol no.
The mariners aren’t going to trade kelenic right now because it would be selling as low as it’s possible to sell.
Castillo is good, but they aren't pitching well either. That and the fact they have not much control left makes this deal kind of a rental. I'm not giving up Jarred and a well regarded prospect for a semi-rental who isn't even pitching well. No offense but the Reds (and it seems their fans) overvalue their pitching a ton. I've seen similar sentiment with Mahle.
He is pitching well, last night was only his third start of year and he was lights out.
Not disagreeing that he isn't good, you are just overvaluing him
Give me votto
I would be a-ok with that lol
Not totally crazy, but would you trade top 50 prospect Jose Barrero and and recent 1st rounder Chase Petty for <2 years of an SP2? I don't think so and Kelenic+Miller is equal if not more valuable imo.
If I was in the M’s shoes right now? Yes. Absolutely. I’m not sold on Barrero and Petty is many many years away from the bigs. He could throw his elbow out tomorrow and never be the same. I view all pitching prospects as lottery tickets. Even the best ones. And Petty and Miller are far from the best pitching prospects. Neither are close to top 100 mlb prospects.

Touche, however, fans tend to overvalue their own prospects. I’ve been guilty of this many times in my decades as a Reds fan. Nick Senzel, come on downnn, who was once a top 5 prospect in baseball and I expected to be 2nd coming of Paul Molitor. Instead he’s a complete and utter bust.
Castillo has been a top 20-30 SP in mlb for years now, is mid-prime, and has an additional year of control after 2022. Those don’t grow on trees.
I honestly tried to look at this as fairly as possible. I tried to think of a trade I would not feel great about as a Reds fan. This would be a huge risk from Reds perspective. You’re trading your ace away for an OF prospect with a big time pedigree that has had about as bad of results at big league level as possible and a young pitcher, and as we all know TINSTAAPP.
Lol huge risk for the Reds? They seem to be in full dump mode. Castillo is more than likely traded before August
Risk as in trading their best chip for a young OF who has shit his pants at big league level twice now
Risk is trading a 22 year old former top 5 MLB prospect for a pitcher with an ERA over 4.5 with less than 2 years of club control.
