where others orbit you at a distance

telling me to keep mine as well

i cant help but

be pulled in by your gravity

knowing damn well that the closer i get

the faster i will fall

and the more devastating the final impact

i wish i could observe you from afar

fearing yet respecting your greatness

just as the others do

still, i tumble into your atmosphere

hoping to fall more gently than i have before

effortlessly floating onto your surface

into an open embrace

defying the laws of gravity

just this one time

just once

yet, laws are laws

patterns in endless repetition bordering on insanity

and as i gain momentum,

i feel the air heat up around me

the friction begins to burn

like the countless times before

please, PLEASE

just this once

dont ignite me in harsh intensity as i approach

turning me into an explosive force

seeking to smash us both into smithereens

help me defy this gravity

and stop this tiring cycle of cataclysms
