/r/hockey 2012 Mock Draft!
The 2012 Entry Draft is a week away, and r/hockey will be conducting its first ever mock draft.
In order to do the draft as quickly as possible and to avoid vote-rigging by rival subreddits, we'll do this by having each team subreddit appoint a general manager between now and 9PM on Wednesday, June 13 (edit: 20). General managers can be nominated however the subreddit would like, and do not have to be the subreddit mods. (You can use any criteria to pick a GM, but I'd suggest having people rank prospects, and electing the most popular draft list.) At 9PM, whoever has created the original selection post will message me with the team's new GM (if I dont get a message, Ill be messaging whoever has the top - not best - post in the thread).
During the next week, teams will also want to discuss organizational needs, specific prospects, and anything else that a GM and his or her assistants might consider before heading to the draft table. Everything with one exception:
Trades are not allowed in the mock draft. I'm not going to play commissioner to a billion and one "30th overall, this mediocre prospect, and a seventh rounder for first overall" proposals, even if both GMs agree on it.
On Thursday, June 21st, at 9PM EST, we'll have the Oilers message me the first overall selection, and from the time I post it up on main thread, the next GM will have 5 minutes to make their selection. If I don't get a selection in time, we'll be using the highest rated skater by the consensus draft list. If you're accepting a GM position, please make sure that you can be around roughly when your team should be picking. If you aren't sure when or where you're picking, there's a good list (complete with mock draft) here If any first round picks are moved between now and Thursday at 9, we'll be honoring whatever the new draft order is.
So get to the draft tables, and get ready to ask: Is that the kid you want?

Assuming a typo for June 20th?
Either way great idea! Looking forward to it :)
Correct. Please do not worry about travelling back in time to appoint a GM!
