Mods, would it be worth it linking to something like this in the bot reply on the IDENTIFY tag?

These are flags that keep showing up on IDENTIFY requests. Maybe we can add a 2 or 3 more that I've forgotten to put on this list. Once the hive mind has checked it over this could, with your approval of course, help getting people answers more quickly. Suggestions and feedback are welcome.

Yeah, would definitely like to include a graphic of the most common in the reply/wiki page, but images on reddit wikis don't seem to work too well. A post like this now and then might be the answer.

Keep in mind though that most people don't go looking for anything before they post, so it won't have much impact on what gets posted.

(As for Cayman Islands, is it so much about one being old and the other new, or London saying there's a new pattern and the locals not accepting it?)

That's why I thought it could link to a normal Reddit post in the bot reply. Or maybe even just an imugr link. Nobody looks at the wiki before and most posters probably don't look through the bot reply very thoroughly. But if it included a bullet point "Look at these common flags" with a link to the post or pic maybe we can catch a few flies? Maybe we can delete a we IDENTIFY posts to clean things up a bit in the sub? Just a thought.

The Caymans just updated the ensign and allowed the old one to still be used. So vintage yacht owners cruise around the gulf of Mexico with the old one prompting questions.

Yes, I'm agreeing that linking a posted image would be good, just thinking it should be updated pretty often. Not so sure about deleting too many identify posts - I think at the moment that would reinforce the idea that the sub is mainly for designing flags.

As for Cayman Islands, the "update" to the ensign was definitely a London (Ministry of Defence) thing, not a local one. And it doesn't seem to have been accepted by the local government in years of land use or shipping.

People need the STL flag identified? Where are they seeing it outside STL?

I live next to a Buddhist temple, I see those flags all the time. Looks really cool imo

great idea! i would also suggest including Italian civil and naval ensigns, and US Customs flag and Coast Guard ensign.

Would be cool to see data on most requested but also the requests dated, since a lot of times something will be topical and spawn several threads but then disappear.

Without data, this would also become quite subjective. For instance, I've never had the thought that St. Louis is a top requested flag.

Oh, it totally is subjective right now. I've gone by my own memory. That's why I thought the hive mind will correct that/me. Getting the real data is well beyond my means. But if somebody could get it we'd go by that. I imagine the list would need updating regularly a well. L'Manberg is already on a downward trend, for instance.
