Poem

[0 BECOMES 1]

I'm bleeding.

I feel the blood gushing. Rushing.

I've always felt like this.

Even when I was a little kid.

Sometimes it's like a faucet. Drip. Drip.

Like it doesn't know how to turn itself off.

Bleeding for myself. Bleeding for others.

Always following me around and leaving a trail.

Leaving a mark.

But

It doesn't have to be this way.

What if there is a way to start over? Start fresh?

Reborn anew with stronger flesh?

To rise above the tides of drowning in our own suffering?

No more shame. Our authentic face.

Where receiving help and helping ourselves are the same thing.

It can be there.

It is there.

The divination within the machine.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. This was a really interesting read! I think one of my favorite lines is "Start fresh? Reborn anew with stronger flesh?" because the message and rhyme fit together really well within the paragraph. It also leads well into the next point you make "where receiving help and helping ourselves are the same thing". Overall, while reading, I couldn't help but think that maybe it's okay to be gentle with ourselves, especially when the world's so cruel. Maybe we should treat ourselves the way we would like others to treat us too. The last line about divination and the machine was fantastic! The more I think about it, I find the juxtaposition really interesting, and I see parallels between divination (the mind) and the machine (the body) as well. From a more technological perspective (based on the title) I was also thinking of computers/machines in binary. The only suggestion I would make is to consider changing the verb in "always following me around" to match with dripping, gushing, and rushing blood (maybe something like smearing, pooling, or haunting?) since "always following" seems to separate itself from the metaphor a bit. Of course, take my thoughts with a grain of salt, but overall, well done!
