I have 700 bottles to sell :(

Discuission

Like the title says, I have over 700 bottles to sell. I’m Extremely overwhelmed and not sure what to do.

A lot of them are still dirty and I just don’t have the energy or will to hand wash them all.

I’m losing my mind because my tiny apartment is so cluttered. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to post all these bottles? Only some are rare , I’m so desperate I’m willing to get rid of these for $1/bottle.

Someone please help me. I’m in Toronto Canada if that helps.

You don’t have to clean all 700 at once and then list them. Just take some pictures of whatever is clean and make some listings. You could group bottles together instead of listing them all separately. As you gain more energy for it, clean and list some more.

Just sold a box of about 20 nice patent meds on Craigslist for $50. Buyer mainly wanted the 1977 Burger King Star Wars glass.

Oh wow! I’m assuming they were in very clean condition right?

You don't need the buyer, if you list it, they will come. People like that are constantly on these sites looking for their niche so just post away, have your bottles pre wrapped (make 100% sure pics and description are to a "T", bubble wrap very well), and be ready to ship. I will say that here in the states Flea Markets are a great place to sell everything, so go rent a spot for $30-50, watch your stuff fly out, and the $ start rolling in. Good luck, don't stress, it's going to be a process.

So I’ve been in your position before, and here’s a few options to consider.

Doing it yourself: -clean them. They need to display properly in order to list them in an online auction. -group them accordingly. I.e., by type, color, era etc. as you see fit. Lots can be big or small. -list them for a cheap price on eBay or other auction and let the buyers bid them up. Just make sure to charge enough for shipping, as glass is heavy and you need to wrap them well so they don’t break in transit. -this method maximizes your profits.

An alternative to this would be skip the cleaning process and box them accordingly. Send them to a local auction house. This is the easiest option in my opinion, but it will not maximize profits.

Another alternative to this would be finding a broker. I.e., someone who will sell them on your behalf and you split the profits in some manner (unless they wish to work for you for free). They would do the cleaning and listing and all the work for you. This method also does not maximize your profits.

If profitability is not your goal, then I suggest shipping them off to the auction house. It’s hassle free. Just search local auction houses in your area and give them a call.

Good luck! You also have the option to post the rare/valuable ones on here to see if people are interested in purchasing. I will make a “for sale” flair if you choose to do this. Cheers.

I'm in Toronto, and always looking for small antique bottles. Would you consider selling a few, say 50 bottles? If so, please DM me.

Sell some at flea markets or on ebay. Ebay can make you a lot of money if you have good bottles. You should also know what you are selling, so you have fair prices and dont get ripped off.

eBay, depending on shipping or what not I may buy a few. Do you have an eBay account your selling any on?

How'd you acquire such a large collection?

My husband is a construction worker and a few sites had so many bottles. He literally brought them ALL home.

Nice, I'm also from Toronto and work construction. I've found a couple while I was at Woodbine and Kingston. I recently stumbled on this at my current site.

Most vendors in my area that sell antique bottles don't even bother cleaning them. Which is kind of weird to me. You could probably sell them in lots to those kind of vendors instead of slowly cleaning and taking inventory.

I would be an interested buyer if they're still available. I'm a long time collector from the Peterborough area and have made many deals with GTA construction workers in the past. Please reach out if you would like to work something out. Thank you

You might have a hoarding issue.

Keep the ones that are worth something and recycle the rest

😂 I’m defiantly not a hoarder.
