Are "minimalist" shoes ok for lifting?
They tend to not have compressible soles, but also little to no heel.
I currently lift in New Balance Minimus Trail shoes (from last year, not quite 0 drop but close).
Does it even matter at lighter weights?
Edit: Wow, every question I submit to r/fitness gets downvoted to 0. No matter what. Thanks to the couple of folks that answered before the post fell out of visibility (unless you also downvoted ಠ_ಠ)
Edit2: Someone gave enough sympathy bumps, and I was able to get good answers to my question. So, I'm good now, downvote away! (unless you want to share results with others)
Edit3: Err... made the mistake of reading more about it, now I'm confused again. WHEN would weight lifting shoes (with raised heel) be appropriate? I'm a beginner training for fitness, meaning: strength training but I don't care about the numbers for the sake of numbers... I'm not going to meets or anything. If lifted heels lets me lift more with less strength, I don't care then. Would I ever want to use raised heel shoes?
Edit4: Ok, so question gets downvoted to nil (which, as I now understand, could be quite justifiable!), I whine like a sissy, it gets upvoted, I say "cool, I'm good, you can downvote now", it gets upvoted a lot. Oh, r/fitness, you so crazy...
