It’s highly unlikely to be viable and I’m in Texas. I’m stuck

I’m currently 18 weeks and I’ve been so excited for this baby. We have tried for 4 years with no success and finally our little boy was a miracle. So to make this post hurts me so much. I have very low amniotic fluid and had an anatomy scan that shows the amniotic fluid is dangerously little and his kidneys are big. The doctor put it in simple terms that I understood this isn’t good.

They mentioned previously before all the laws they would have offered termination but now they can’t suggest anything else and my options are to carry it until the amniotic fluid is none and either wait for it to pass away in me or come out naturally. I have a fetal MRI coming up but just hearing that he may pass on me or after being born is just too much. Instead of carrying my boy which should be marked by planning and talking about our future together, will now become discussions on how the only way I can get it terminated is if the heartbeat stops or how maybe I’ll see him for a bit before he dies.

Im just stuck. I don’t want to carry him knowing what’s going to happen and him suffering due to no fluid. Would I be sued if I reached out to out of state clinics? At 18 weeks my options are dwindling and the cost already of my current situation will amount to a hefty fee and now thinking about paying for out of state clinics and abortions is just daunting. I hate Texas. I hate my luck and my situation. Im just lost on what to do

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. As if it isn't painful enough already to lose a child.

As far as I have read you can still travel out of state for an abortion....however you are correct that Texas has passed a law that private citizens can sue people who perform abortions or people who help them get one.

Though what I'm inferring is that doesn't mean anyone can sue YOU for getting an abortion, just those who assisted you. You are apparently protected by your right to interstate travel, for now.

Again I am so so so sorry, there are no words truly but I hope you are able to receive the care that you need.

Could they sue my husband for helping take me to an out of state abortion clinic? Unfortunately I had a miscarriage scare so everyone at my job knows I’m pregnant and if I were to disappear for a week or two to recover and grieve I’m scared they’ll know and some radical conservative could come after my husband. These laws are disgusting and that I have to worry about my husband helping me is just such a weird america we live in

I’m so sorry for both of you.

Come to New Mexico our governor signed a proclamation this week that out of state visits for a legal abortion are protected from any other states prosecution.

Miscarriage scare makes having one more likely. And this is a miscarriage like situation... Just focus on yourself for now. Rest will fall into place. It isnt lying if youre doing your best and the meaning/feeling you are convaying is true.

I honestly don't know for sure. :( But if someone was actually going to be a crazy asshole and report your husband, I read it would have to be with a fierce/harsh prosecutor to actually have a leg to stand on.

I can't even believe this is America still, you should not be going through this.

I'm so sorry. The supreme court is making already painful situations so much worse. If you are expecting to struggle with the costs involved this charity may be able to help. https://abortionfunds.org/need-abortion/ I'm so sorry about your son and I hope you are able to be taken care of properly.

I'm so sorry. I know it doesn't change or fix things, but I am so sorry.

Suggest you email with Planned Parenthood or call them to find out your options. What did your Dr suggest would be best, or can they not even offer suggestions for out of state care?

We are going to call planned parenthood’s in neighboring states that have their abortion week limit a little later and see what they can do after our MRI done if it’s not too late. She could not suggest anything and said due to legality she couldn’t offer resources for out of state care which I can understand since they could be sued.

You deserve better. Your family deserves better.

I'm so sorry you're facing this unwinnable situation. I can totally understand that your healthcare provider is also in a terrible position. I hope you find the best resolution for your family soon.

The Boulder Clinic in Colorado performs pregnancies at all stages, especially in cases like yours. Dr. Warren may be your best bet at compassionate care.

Do you know where the nearest town is that will do abortions? Elevated access is a non profit that was just started with pilots willing to transport for free.

If you can find a clinic somewhere, I have miles to spare (AA/Alaska). Just DM me.
