Scuba boots as ocean boots?

Just a quickie, hopefully.

Any reason why I shouldn’t be using my scuba diving boots for other watersports-y activities? I’m on vacay and thinking of trying kayaking and/or paddleboarding during downtimes. (So not planning on taking hour-long walks down the rocky beach)

It’s only the tan line that’s a problem

Neat, thanks!

Btw most people say you should be barefoot for standup paddle boarding. Unless it’s especially cold. Give you a better feel for the board

I use my scuba boots for all kinds of water activities. They make great water shoes. Just last week I used them to hike to a water fall. The hike was through a stream. I was in complete comfort. My friend's weren't because they didn't have scuba boots.

Yeah do this too

You can, but it probably isn't the best tool for the job. Most watersports shoes are designed to drain water so your feet don't stay wet to attract nasties, while wetsuit boots are designed to hold water to keep your feet warm.

Can't recommend for snorkelling (unless you snorkel with heavy rubber fins lol), they are uncomfortably floaty.

Ha! Snorkeling just doesn’t have the same ring to it since I’ve been introduced to scuba diving, so I’m not going to do that :) Thank you for your reply!

I still use my booties even though it is total overkill because I find fins barefoot very uncomfortable

Aqua shoes without/minimum neoprene are much better for it

My scuba boots second as my cottage boots and sailing boots. They're comfortable and easy to slip on and off. Not to mention they're cheap to replace so wear them for whatever you want!

neoprene boots don't wick sweat or breath well for surface activities is the only downside

I use shortys for diving just so I can use them for other water/beach activities. They slip on and off easily. In rough waves they can fill with sand, but it beats walking barefoot on shells and rocks

Other than wearing them out faster, wear them as you please.
