Thought you all would enjoy seeing this view from the fireworks in Champaign tonight! For anyone who was there, I was that small plane going around in circles.

Yup! I’m a private pilot with access to a club plane. I’m honestly shocked I was the only one up there last night.

Years ago I built a bunch of my CFI time instructing in that plane before I went to the airlines. I'm glad it's still flying. Especially because it was just barely flying when I flew it...

Hey, I totally saw you. One thing though. The light from the plane was distracting while trying to see the fireworks.. Next time, can you please turn off the light during fireworks.. It was distracting. If the light is legally required, never mind.

The lights I had on (anti-collision and navigation lights) are legally required for safety reasons. I did turn off my landing light though, which is not required and is probably the most distracting.
