God is Dead

Poem

blue pen, stare at it

keep starring

with each second passing

…

you find yourself more relaxed

you’re melting

and ahh how marvelous it feels

let the pen touch your minds eye

open and run

“love is white

love is all

love is fight

love is all

no white without red

God loves, but feels depressed”

now stare at this blue pen again

confess

“this trance is mine and yours

I yearn to feel

give me a chance, not chores

I’ll reveal my shield

I ask for miracles and tragedies

because, let’s confess

God loves, but feels depressed”

eyes open, awake, alert, and energized

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.

This is very interesting! The mention of a pen makes it seem initially like a description of the act of writing, expressed abstractly and confusingly, but after a few readthroughs I feel like the blue pen may be a symbol or synonym or something of the sort for a drug of some kind.

I'm not entirely sure what the core observation of the poem is. Is it that there is "no white without red"? I interpret that to mean no love without something red, maybe blood as a code for pain: no love without pain. That feels disconnected from the rest of the poem.

Is it a philosiphical musing? A description of a trip? A description of writer's block? I'm not sure.

Maybe you want me to be unsure, in which case, well done.
