Help with mould

Hello, I’m new to using Epoxy resin and I’m starting off small by making coasters. However, what would people recommend for a non stick solution that isn’t a special product that I would have to get offline? I was thinking of using silicone lubricant or Vaseline? Would either of these too work! Thanks I’m advance

Typically I just use a mould that is made with silicone or polypropylene. I haven't used it with epoxy specifically but PVA mold release has worked very well for me with polyester resin.

I just re-read this post. If you are making coasters using a store made, silicone rubber mold, you do NOT need any release spray. It will just pop out.

I just tried silicone spray last week. Total fail. May have been operator error, but I can't endorse that one. I always wondered about Pam -- spray vegetable oil.....

If ur just trying it out as a beginner and only pouring a small thing like a coaster. Just cover it in any tape thats made of plastic. An ordinary brown or transparent box tape works just fine.

So just some clear packaging tape would be ok? I was thinking of the waterproof gorilla tape as I figured if it’s water proof then it must be coated?

I use HDPE sheets. You can buy them on Amazon or a local plastic company. 1/4 inch will work.
