a prelude to dreaming
The horizon plucks the clouds like pink grapes from a vine—
like sheep’s wool she swaddles herself in,
just to hold tight in this flush summer night.
laid down to rest, a heat settles into her pores as she sinks into the clouds,
a heat ignites her face and blows a gust across the skies,
a heat sends shivers that escape as a yawn,
a heat passes by like a ship in the night.
Breathing— deeply, her eyes open up to drink the pooling dark, and again,
she sucks in the whole world till she’s peering at it through nothing but a hole in the sky…
horizon closes her eyes, breathes out, and lips stained pink fall into a smile.
pink clouds now such a deep blue
they fade into black

“Pink clouds now such a deep blue They fade into black” Such a beautiful description and a dark looming way to complete this poem. I really enjoyed giving this one a read.
