I'll just shoot the floor to essentially stickyspam without stickies

LilChumpales•

So you can free up your secondary and put the sticky launcher in! Genius!

DeepestMemes•

"I got hit 2 times in a row by the iron bomber!" Yeah, and at that distance, you would have by any other primary. Your point?
Rollers from stock and static pills from the iron bomber all have their pros and cons. I've had situations with both where I thought "Man, if only I had <other weapon>."
Having a smaller hitbox? Good nerf. Is it a huge change? Not really.
Sincerely, Demo main

People really dont get why people actually use the iron bomber

14
turmspitzewerkScout :scoutclass:•

i mean, some people totally freaked out upon hearing that it was "nine times larger!" and hardswitched to being an iron bomber main. but that 9x cubic volume difference is such a small radius increase that it should hardly effect you 99.9% of the time. some people really just got placebo's into being iron bomber mains, and now they're gonna freak out and switch off.

iron bomber is infamous for being the most insignificant and boring sidegrade in the whole game, and the hitbox glitch was even moreso unimportant. but people don't use their brains and just started yelling about it being some massive straight upgrade.

13
BlueRiddle•

The hitbox change definitely mattered enough to be significant and affect your hit rates, just not enough that "the hitbox alone makes you hit your pipes" as some people claim.

1
darklordbmMedic :medicclass:•

Wut who says it's insignificant, literal upgrade to stock before nerf in majority of situations

-2
EPIKGUTS24•

So is the Third Degree.

2
funnuemonkeyDemoman :democlass:•

fuck yes absolutely correct in every way, let the heavy and engie mains cry.

5
owoWool•

Fucking love this. Awful players, keep coping.

4
turmspitzewerkScout :scoutclass:•

the way you people act, you'd think the radius of the iron bomber was +1000000 units and not +1 single unit lmao. people freaked out about the volume being "9 times larger" as if that's not the difference between an ant and a... slightly larger ant, i guess.

26
owoWool•

People who act like that are just awful players after getting piped to oblivion. Even habib said it makes no difference after the nerf.

6
BlueRiddle•

Some people act like the difference is negligible though, which isn't any better.

0
turmspitzewerkScout :scoutclass:•

it really is though. the iron bomber is infamous for being an insignificant and boring sidegrade, but this glitch was even moreso unimportant. if it was truly 1:1 identical to stock, then there would be something worth talking about here. but its not, it was barely a factor in the differences.

some people heard the "its nine times bigger!!!!" factoid and freaked out and started "abusing" it. when really they just placebo'd themselves into thinking its somehow overpowered. the slightly bigger radius might affect like, 1 in every 1000 pipes you shoot. it literally just gives you a few more pixels of forgiveness, that's it.

3
BlueRiddle•

The word "factoid" does not mean "fact I disagree with".

Iron Bomber users when the only grenade launcher with a properly sized hitbox compared to the model is changed to make it as damaged as the others (before you say anything, on the rare occasion I play demoman, I use stock). The Iron Bomber was never the issue, the discrepancy between the model and hitbox of stock was from the beginning. By the way, I'm not saying the Iron Bomber should have a larger hitbox, only that the hitbox for all of them should correspond to the model. If the hitbox is too big, make the entire model smaller. That's the only correct course of action.

RedditWarrior178•

What if valve wants it to have a small hit box but doesn't want to to decrease the visibility of the pipe?

NotWendy1Scout :scoutclass:•

Mini_Marauder died on the spot from hearing this outrageous idea. They were then sent home to their momma in a box.

7
turmspitzewerkScout :scoutclass:•

i mean, the severely undersized hitboxes kinda compensate for the severely oversized player bounding boxes. but i think it would be far better if the hitboxes were accurate.

how come there isn't like, some way to use the model as the hitbox in games? surely it takes a lot of effort to manually make janky ass hitboxes for every single animation and shit. sometimes its good to have deceptive hitboxes in the player's favor in a singleplayer game, but i've never seen anything good come from having janky broken hitboxes in a PVP game.

Fulselp•

smash exists without even having limb hitboxes. It’s all just circle. Some of smash’s hitboxes are incredibly disjointed. And despite seeming unfair when looking at it slowly, in the moment, it’s really just fine.

I think there’s also some examples in LoL, but I don’t play that.

1
turmspitzewerkScout :scoutclass:•

mobas i get, often they literally are just represented by a circle. like they're some little amiibo or something that you're just scooting around the board. the base of the figure is a little glowing circle that shows you info like what team they're on, and the figure itself is just for show so you know who they are and what they're doing and such.

and smash is extraordinarily polished for a game of its scope. but i still don't understand why they would go through the effort of likely thousands of hours of making hitboxes from scratch. surely i think that if you use the model as a base to generate the hitboxes, it'd be easier to just edit it from there? just fix up some oddities, remove hurtboxes from clothing and weapons, and add some special stuff like windboxes. that must be easier and better than from scratch right? has nobody made a program that lets you import a model and just turn it into hitbox data?

i've played plenty of flash games with perfect hitboxes. either they're impeccably skilled, or they're able to use the sprite itself as the hitbox. i'm just kind of baffled as to why its not done that way for big developers; there must be something i don't know?

Bro the weapon is still viable

13
funnuemonkeyDemoman :democlass:•

lmao, ofc the fucking heavy main posts this. anyways that update changes jack shit, the iron bomber pill hitbox is like a millimeter smaller? still enough to just lob 4 at your slow ass main while you just try shoot us and die in like, 3 seconds, because the machine gun class actually doesnt kill everything as quick as you think

11†
80sVercetti•

Fr bro, the iron bomber feels the same as stock, just a little different stats, mfs starting posting these cringe "demo mains after the iron bomber nerf" like stfu, if u hit pipes u hit them.

16
funnuemonkeyDemoman :democlass:•

exactly. only difference is the distance and consistency of the pills. not much is different, especially now or even then, except back then you had a slightly higher chance of hitting pills which wasn't even that much of a higher chance in the first place, it was just an excuse for engie and heavy mains to go "omg bro!!! the iron bomber is like broken and overpowered bro!!!"

4
sophacles•

Look, you're absolutely correct. You and I know how little this "nerf" changes. Instead of trying to educate the willfully ignorant (a waste of time really), sit back and enjoy the easy kills as the falsely emboldened fools try to "take advantage of your inability to hit now".

Hating the Iron Bomber is cool and funny now?

6

Ok but huntsman hitbox fix when?

6

Like the iron bomber fix didnt matter much, but oh man i cant imagine that

4
BlueRiddle•

I'm not sure if it's ever going to get fixed. As far as I know every projectile in TF2 uses the bounding boxes for hit registration?

Without it, things might flip around the other way and make the Huntsman too hard to aim.

1
Hirotrum•

The huntsman hitbox isnt the issue. Huntsman hitbox works the same way as every other projectile weapon. The jank comes from its headshot formula

1
ExploerTMDemoman :democlass:•

I am so, SO tempted to make a bind "bIGgEr hItBOx" and spam it after every IB kill

3
NotWendy1Scout :scoutclass:•

Nobody outside of the subreddit cares about it. Hell, most of the people who post about it don't care either. It's just the new thing that gives you karma around here.

The weapon is still good enough for me to easily dominate ppl like you

I used it before the grenade size was discovered, and I’ll continue to use it. It’s still easier to aim, and I genuinely like the static grenades for utility.

1
Just-A-Reddit-User0Demoknight :shield:•

I’m using a copy and paste thing to say that the iron bomber isn’t dead just because the hitbox is normal, some people actually used it cause they like rollers and will still use it in the future.

Time to switch to Grenade Launcher then…

-4
funnuemonkeyDemoman :democlass:•

yeah dude. i would rather have a weapon that is non consistent now over the weapon that is consistent but has a normal sized hitbox now.
