A psychiatrist suggested I stop taking my meds and start reading on meditation and buddhism, halfway through the consultation.

I'm in a really good mood since the past 4 weeks. I started learning piano intensively and I have lots of projects going on. Nothing can stop me for conquering the world.

I saw her last week. She let me talk for 30 minutes. I tried to explain everything, but it's quite hard when you're happy. She then said that i'm fine and that my meds are useless (Seroquel 150mg). She suggested that I start reading on different things I could do, like meditation and buddhism.

Really? Is it me or it doesn't make any sense?

I have an appointment with another psychiatrist next wednesday, I hope he'll be more helpful than her...

second opinion would be the smartest choice

What and when was your original diagnosis. Did she change your diagnosis or provide a reason for it?

I would think since you are stable, she would suggest that you not change a thing! But to go off meds and look into meditation and Buddhism? Combination seems like a good plan. Second opinion sounds good.

I agree with all the comments here. If you have found stability it is probably not a good idea to stop the meds, I'd ask her what her reasoning is. Meditation is always great, with or without meds. I'd, one, ask her what the reasoning is and two, get a second opinion.
