Where does every book their vacations and how do you afford them?

I know there’s tons of sites out there, but when I’m looking for all inclusive resorts from recommendations, I’m quoted approximately $6000 for 5 nights and 6 days (2 adults 1 child) Is this right?

How is everyone affording this? I make a decent amount of money and I think $6000 is an insane amount to spend for a week. There’s people that make less than me that have been to resorts that are quoting me $10k.

Last time I went on a “real” vacation was 10 years ago. I’m seriously not understanding. Am I just being a cheap ass or is there a specific time to book these vacations?

What I got from all the comments are use redtag or selloffvacations, maximize my credit card use to get more points/deals, travel during the off season, and clear all my cookies.
