The Poet's Life Lesson
The drums are beating
Noises in my head
They're repeating
I'm given the choice in what to do with the voice
But, I defeated the purpose
Which is to rejoice with the muses -- they play out of focus
I once made it worthless when I didn't use it
And for that I'm remiss
Because I didn't source it
For my persistent music
Then, I learned to produce this
Poetry, in my free time
I let loose this torrent of new rhymes I deduce during the times I'm reclusive
When I'm caught recording my thoughts, my ignorance is abusive
But I could give two shits
I pay attention
To capture moments of rapture when I work to master the translation that I make when I want to portray
The sensation of celebration for captivating poetry creation
It's not only me that's got this calibration
For Insightful focus
Concentration during conjuration, with pen to the page, unwilling to run away when engaged with the shade
A mental locus
Thoughts on a rampage and in a rage when the Shadow is on the stage -- a battle that must be waged
Put your trust and your gusto on the page
As you age, you gotta use it to make it stick
Or else you'll lose it
That'll make you sick
Put in the ten thousand hours
You'll be surprised when afterwards, your words will show off superpowers
Outpour your poetry
Humor the showers
Give up, and your works won't bloom like they're flowers
We're poets so this advice is all ours
It shouldn't cost a dime to level up
And elevate lines like the way up a tower
Reach the top and celebrate the mind you took the time to devour
Your personal shrine
I think you'll find yourself satisfied to learn
You're no coward when you stay to face the fears
When you say to yourself, "these thoughts, they're mine!"
And choose to spend the time
Relaying with words
Thoughts that are empowered into the best way they can be heard
That's what this poet has to say
I hope my life lessons find it's way to poets of any day
Lessening the bind some fall into learning how to word play
