This is the best ever
I love that ppl still love and make old school ps1 graphics. Makes me so happy lol
2D sprites with six sides, are really awesome in 3D worlds.
I love this so much!
Pretty please keep us up to date! I wanna see more!
Edit: after seeing it again I just noticed how he doesn't swap, as in his body is constant, like his dark green leg is always his right leg. In games like mercenary saga, they flip 2d characters, like they'll be left-handed at certain angles. But not here, he's constant and doesn't flip. How do you do it?
It's as simple as me having drawn 8 unique directions for the character. Most sprite-based games that you see flipping the sprite along the Y axis when facing opposite directions do it to save on drawing/animation time.
I opted not to do this because, uh, I'm a stubborn idiot. It will almost certainly double my workload once I'm working with actual character sprites and not this placeholder guy.
That's really cool. What's the game you're making called?
No idea! Still very much in the prototyping phase. I hardly know what genre it's going to be.
Oh I see. Well I hope it all comes together for ya. But when I see that area, it makes me think of the name "Wilting Dungeon" or "Wiltaway" or something like that. If you like stressing people out and challenging them. It could be a game where you have to keep venturing forth in a dungeon and each room slowly expires. Like falling apart or dissolving or atomizing, or burning up or sinking or all at once, embodying madness. Perhaps they don't go away too fast, but instead by 1% per hour and the rooms are worth revisiting with locked compartments, mini quest items, enemies, loot, people who're unaware of the area's situation and you could leave them behind or go through the effort of talking them into leaving before they too meet the same fate as the room they're in. Maybe every wall of every dungeon has holes or windows and at the end of the game, all dungeons/rooms are restored and sunlit with heavenly music playing or no music at all for the player to be left alone with all their thoughts on their actions as the results of their decisions are displayed all over each room, marked with many reminders of the significant things you did on your way to beat the game. And you walk all the way back to point A, the start of the game and saunter or limp off into a bright light, leaving so much up to interpretation and room for theories, did the player character die? Was it all over the course of a night and it ends at sunrise? Is it about someone succumbing to brain deterioration and all memories come back to them in the end just before they take their final breaths?
