Be merciful with your own.

Poem

Be merciful with your own.
Demand, but not too much.
Don’t feel like you’re in crown.
Don’t push too hard in judge.

You living part of nature.
Like cats and dogs or stars.
Don’t be a tyrant stature.
Don’t hold yourself in bars.

hi :)
ahhh I feel this one! simple and short yet powerful message. the rhyming and flow works very well, well done on that! I enjoy the comparison, to cats or dogs or stars, it works well in context. this hits really close to home. this is really beautiful, great job!

Thank you dude for kind words! By the way, it is my first poem wrote in English. I really enjoyed by writing it, so good way to express feelings, let go bad energy. I'm glad that you like it.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.

The open is solid, imo. It invokes all too familiar dilemmas of parenting and begins with a confident and economical call to balance. "Demand, but not too much."

The rest feels a bit wayward and undeveloped. Okay, I am a living part of nature. Sure! But are domesticated animals the best way to demonstrate the wildernesses of the unhuman world? After that I am a tryant, and I am a prisoner.

None of this is something that you *can't* pull off as the poet. I could be wild and domesticated, a sovereign and a captive. Nevertheless, as this stands all the imagery feels random and unsubstantiated.

And what does any of it have to do with your opening claim about being merciful with your own?
