Matches but no messages?

Been on bumble for over a month now. I've gotten 3 matches but none of them have messaged me within the 24 hours (all verified, seem like legit accounts, similar interest). Is this normal? Would people find it weird if you extended the time?

I think it's women swiping on profiles that partially look interested. Once they gather enough matches, those women take a closer look at those matches and only message the top profiles. I think it's normal.

Then don’t use bumble ffs. How hard is that?

I had three new matches recently. I extended the time for two of them, and one ended up messaging me after the extension. The conversation hasn't gone too far since then, but it seems promising. I'm a premium user, so extends are free for me. Not sure if it would be worth it if you're not premium.

33F here. I say this all the time: if I can’t find something original to say after reading a guy’s bio, I will leave the match for later but then I often forget about it. If you want someone to message you, make it easy for them to do so. Maybe pose a question in your bio. It’s gotta be witty and original if you want to stand out. Sorry. It sucks but it’s true.

I really do appreciate the advice. I tried to be very open and welcoming in my bio. No phrases like "swipe left if... , you must be...", etc. I really just state what I like and what kind of relationship I'm looking for.

I've tried using leading questions before but they always seemed to forced (cheesy) to me. If I think of one I like I'll probably put it in one of the prompts.

You’re right, questions in the bio are often cheesy! But I have seen some interesting ones that have at least given me something simple to say to get the convo started. Make it something light that anyone could have an opinion or preference on. For example, one guy said, “tell me your favorite way to eat eggs” which got the convo started then an hour later we were talking about our greatest fears lol.

Also something that annoys me is saying/asking what you are looking for, because frankly it doesn’t matter. People change their minds depending on the day or their mood, and I just don’t trust when someone says even explicitly what they’re looking for. Instead of saying you want a relationship, just show genuine interest in getting to know someone and their personality. It will naturally show what you want without having to come across cheesy or boring.

Unfortunately, there are some women out there who don't realize they have to send the first message. So, they end up allowing the match to expire, thinking the guy is going to make the first move.

I have had 11 expire in 7 days or so. Who knows and who cares? A good woman will message and not create a match without intent on communicating.

They could be drunk swiping 😬 But honestly I message almost all of my matches and about half of them let it expire and never respond back. So it happens both ways.

I see who’s the people I mutually match with and I start conversations with the ones that I think will message me back. Sometimes I send messages and the men let the clock run out.
