We already knew that lol
Bubba was just frustrated and disappointed in what could've been. I couldn't imagine fighting that hard for something so important and not getting the results I wanted, then have a camera and mic shoved in my face directly afterwards.
People claim to want unfiltered, real reactions from drivers, but when they get them, they hate them.
Yeah, Bubba was pissed five seconds later. It's a natural reaction. Given time to review things, he's cooled off and seen the situation for what it was.
You have to react how I want you to or don't react at all.
Vettel said the same thing once. And he was right.
The fact that his pit crew has put him behind the 8 ball because of how they fucked up for half the season doesn't help things. It pisses me the hell off - Bubba was on fire when he had KBM equipment, so he definitely has the talent. It pisses me off that so many of his bad finishes are directly related to his pit crew shitting the bed when he needed them the most.
It's not a coincidence that now that his pit crew has their shit together he's racked up four consecutive top 10s and has the best average finish over the past five races, and that's including a road course, a discipline he's notoriously bad at. The team has absolutely found the speed, Bubba has the talent, and they're finally starting to string full races together. If they keep doing that, the wins will come.
Of course, people will just say that NASCAR is rigging races in his favor or whatever. They're claiming that even when he doesn't win, they just say that he's so bad they couldn't even rig it hard enough for him to win. These people are nuts.
Fuck those idiots, all I have to say.
Do you know what the top 3 or 5 drivers in average finish over the last 5 races?
Bubba also hit on something else important...
Logano's now too old to be a Joey. He needs to rebrand as Joe, or Joseph. Kinda like when Geoff Bodine went all high class and became Geoffrey.
On the other hand, William Byron is too young to be a William. He should be Billy.
I kinda like Joe Logano.
Joey Votto has stayed a Joey so far and it’s been well documented that he still bangs, so I say keep the “y”
Maybe that's the secret, deny that you've outgrown "Joey"
There is also Joey Bosa. And I’m not brave enough to tell him he should drop the “y” lol
still bangs women?
Terence and Robert Labonte have now entered the chat
Really a missed opportunity for “Next Gen Joe” as Lajoie tried for 😂
Pretty common in the northeast to stick that on the end of a name. And you never really outgrow it. Source: 65 yr old Eddie.
I call him Joseph
[deleted]
I for one still think of him as that 18-year-old kid I watched win at Kentucky in his third Grand National start in 2008. But I think this is an agreeable point.
The Joe...or because he drives for Penske...Josef
Slowgano
I’m sure it won’t but that should quiet the crowd that thought Bubba felt Joey raced him wrong.
It won’t. This is the same group that critiques him when he’s being light hearted on radio for not taking it serious enough and therefore disrespecting the sport.

Everyone in the race thread on Sunday should read this. Example #374929 of Logano getting hated on for doing something literally any other driver on the track would do. At some point people have to realize that their hatred is a bit unreasonable.
The people that need to hear this will never hear this.
Joey and Chase Elliott can make the same move on the race track and receive diametrically opposite reactions from the fanbase.
You mean like Chase blocking Harvick for Larson to win with Chase laps down last year?
i mean yeah of course i was mad at Joey for holding up my favorite driver, but i don’t think he did anything wrong. that’s racing! (also i’ve grown to appreciate joey a lot over the last few years. i used to despise that guy when i was younger)
Absolutely!
People love to complain about guys racing hard. Sorry but just bc the guy is slightly faster doesn't mean you should pull over and let him by
I think if people want to give drivers a pass for being emotional in the moment and saying things they later realize isn't accurate or doesn't really apply anymore, then fans should get a similar cooldown time and benefit of the doubt.
the thing i don’t like about joey lately is the hypocrisy, he’ll dish it out but doesn’t take it well. i’d like to see joeys reaction if the shoe was on the other foot
I hate logano, and I would have to agree, he did nothing wrong this time, hate him for the bs he does like punt Byron for no reason, not this.
Byron put him in the wall. That's a reason.
I’d be frustrated immediately following the race too, but I agree that Logano did nothing wrong. If you’re Bubba, you’re pissed that you had a faster car, but got stuck behind him. If you’re Logano, you have to try to stay in front for as long as you can in case you get another caution. His car was good on the restarts and he may have been able to get the lead and block to a win. Just a racing deal in my opinion.
It's crazy how Bubba is almost not allowed to show any sort of emotion whatsoever. It's obvious that people hate him simply because he's black and it makes me very upset as a fellow black male who's loved NASCAR his whole life.

Ryan Newman with douchier eyes.
I can see it.
Ryan Newman with douchier eyes a title
And a polar opposite in the neck department
Ouch. But true.

Joey Logano would be the guy to go by Joseph Logano instead of Joe Logano when he gets older
I'm glad to hear Bubba talked to Joey. Wasn't a fan of what he said immediately after the race, but he's got the maturity to sort it out with the other drivers.
It's easy to forget how young some of these drivers are, and it's sometimes best to reserve judgment and let them find their way. I am certainly guilty of doing so.
One guy that made me reevaluate that way of thinking is Ty Gibbs. For quite a while there, he seemed the most entitled, douchiest racer in existence, but over time, he's admitted his mistakes, and put it into practice with good clean, and exciting old school racing. The Dale Jr Download was a good thing to straighten that image out. Would love to see Bubba on that podcast sometime.
Bubba has been on Dale Junior Download and talked about his struggles with depression and how hard it is to be open and an advocate for mental health.
I'm personally biased of course but it's one of my favorite episodes.
Thanks for telling me. I have not heard those episodes, but I started listening regularly this year.
I see he's been on twice. 2019 and 2021. I'll listen to those tomorrow
I’m no Logano fan, but he did nothing wrong. That’s racing baby!
As I said in the post race thread: I think Bubba had a camera in his face at the wrong time and didn't choose the correct words. We've all been there, the only difference is that Bubba was on national TV when it happened. Logano did nothing wrong. Wallace was just upset, in his head, and put on the spot at the worst possible moment. It's clear he didn't mean it.

Wait I was in the race thread. Who’s saying Joey did something wrong on Sunday? And why? Because he made it difficult for Bubba to get by him?
Ngl for a second I thought he was talking about newgarden and I was thinking yikes.
Little late here so I doubt anyone will see it, Joey did nothing wrong, but long term you have to question if it was the right move. If Joey doesn’t put up such a fight, and the 23 gets by and wins the race, Harvick doesn’t make the playoffs. Wallace is my driver, but I can admit I’d rather go up against him in the playoffs than Harvick.
No one can predict the future, but I wonder how Joey is going to feel about it if he gets eliminated by one position and Harvick makes it.
I still stand by it being the right move for Joey. Joey was able to salvage a top 5 finish with a top 20 car because of how he raced Bubba.
If any other driver raced that hard we would be complimenting them on their tenacity. But because its Joey he gets criticized for it.
I can agree that it was the right move for that moment, for that race. Time will tell if it was the right move for the overall championship.
Also if it had been KFB, Bubba, Ross, or any other driver that polarizes the fan base, they’d be getting just as much criticism. Joey isn’t the only driver that gets villainized, hell these days he’s probably not even in the top five of that category.
I thought only Matt Kenseth referred to Logano as Joseph?
Brad Keselowski and Joey used to refer to eachother as "Bradley" and "Joseph" when they were teammates
Bubba Wallace: Joseph didn’t do a damn thing wrong
Toyota fans: >:(
This is a stupid comment.. it's not much toyota fans it's the comments or views associated with toyota and it's drivers (JGR/23XI) that are stupid
It was a joke about how hated Logano is
So called "toyota" fans aren't the only people who hate Logano
But they put the most effort into it, which is why they're a nice target for the joke
No but Kenseth said it best. Race how you want to be raced. They are all race car drivers. They don't forget shit. They're like elephants. They will do something years later then bring up something happened years before as an explanation.
I fully expect Bubba to race the exact same way if given the chance. He should race hard for second that late in the race as should anyone. Idc who is in front/behind him.
Edit: I guess team mates would make sense for an exception.
He's been given plenty of chances. Some times he races hard and sometimes he doesn't race as hard. Sometimes it's not advantageous to him to aero block constantly or to drive others up the track sending it into a corner. It's all relative. Now for Joey he may absolutely race him like a complete dickhead and harass him as much as he can or help someone dueling with Joey or not give Joey a good push.
It all depends. Just gamesmanship at 180 mph.

Man, Matt Kenseth is sure lucky he didn't get race the way he raced others sometimes
Yes and you need a presence in the garage like Matt Kenseth to police Joey Logano and put him into a wall when he gets out of line as he was at IMS Road Course.
Logano at Michigan? Nothing really wrong with that. Logano at Darlington (wrecking Byron without cause) AND IMS road course (impossible entry into t1 designed to wreck opponents) blatently broke the driver code.
So, at this point Logano has racked himself up two incidents this season, plus his large body of work prior to that. If you're Byron, at this point in time you can fence Logano whenever you want and say "that's just racin". If you're anyone who has had prior beef with Logano including Harvick, Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr, etc you basically can just fence Logano the second he blocks or does a minor offense to you.
The established drivers gotta stand up to Logano and do it now. Logano's a cup champion, you can't let him get away with the antics he's been pulling as a full body of work with this car this season and in the past.
Respect and following the drivers code starts at the top. If you don't hold Logano accountable there is no drivers code. That would have dire consequences for the integrity of the sport.
Darlington wasn't without cause lol. Indy was ridiculous and I hope Joey gets what he deserves for that down the road, but Byron walled Joey at Darlington and found out what happens when you race like that.
Sure Logano did nothing wrong with that but if Bubba is basically harassing him on the track or pinching him then that's fair too.
Just how Logano responds would be fair. Race how you want to be raced. However if Bubba doesn't do anything Joey knows he can do it again and knowing Joey he will turn it up a notch. You give him an inch and he will take a mile.
Perspective.
Logano was the wimpy, skinny guy who couldn't stand up for himself on and off the track.
I was very much the same once upon a time, so when someone trys to mess with me, Im taking that mile so I dont A) get my ass kicked, or B) look like a coward.
Not saying Bubba was messing with him, seems like they're okay and Bubba knows it's a racing deal, but just in general.
Learning to stick up for yourself is empowering and you certainly dont wanna go back to being the wimpy guy who uesd to let everyone bully him. who knows, Joey could have been getting picked on by his peers before nascar and the opportunity to be a driver was the kick in the ass for him to grow a pair.
The Kenseth thing needed to happen because he was worse at one point, to the extent of absolutely no respect, but now, he's really not done all that much wrong execpt be slightly aggressive (not counting 2021 Daytona).
I'll even let that Martinsville thing back in 2018 slide, as a Truex fan. It wasnt bump and run esqu like Gordon, both of them honestly collided.
What did everyone expect?
Im honestly okay with what happened at darlington. To me, that means Byron now needs to be less nice and rile em up soon. He's good, but if he just had that killer instinct, he'd be even better.
His interview I think he was just frustrated because he knew he was the faster car but it was like impossible to pass cars and keep momentum. Logano is the new Newman
Bubba didn't want the spot as much as Joey. He was aero blocked a lot but if really wanted it then he could do something.
not really he never had the run coming out of a corner to dive bomb the next corner and get in front and i don’t think bubba is the type to just dump the guy in front. i guess a bump and run could’ve been acceptable but i don’t think he was catching kevin as soon as he got out to a 1.5 second lead after a lap
All sorts of incorrect
Yeah I'm sure the professional racecar driver didn't want to try and win a race, totally makes sense.
This has to be a parody, right?
You never know these days
