I am being completely serious when I say that Richard Russell looping a hijacked Q400 above the Puget Sound, against the backdrop of a gorgeous sunset, is the greatest work of outsider art of the 22st century. It's hard to think of anything more ferociously sublime.
I feel like there's an element of non-replicability that really adds to it. Like you can't do some aerial acrobatics culminating in poignant suicide now, I think that would get relentlessly mocked as a pale, farcical imitator, like that attempted 9-11 style thing with a Cessna. It has a similar feel to Bas Jan Ader's disappearance, except less wanky

Everything about it was aesthetically flawless: the simultaneous creation and culmination of a genre. Truly the Loveless of larcenous suicides.
