My virtual heaven
The school day was rough,
My friends were unapproachable.
My teachers were far too busy to care
and my assignments were exhausting.
I finally make it home.
And run right to my room.
I turn on my pc and as soon as the headphones come on,
I've entered my happy place, my digital heaven.
Minecraft, Sims 4, Job simulator, and YouTube,
Just some stops on my train of thought
all of which helped supply me with
stories, entertainment, serotonin, and all kinds of fun that I’ve badly needed.
I smile for the first time all day.
I laugh, I cry, I feel comfortable and content.
But of course, something always has to ruin it.
"Come to dinner!" "Go to bed!" "You have school!"
Something always has to pull me away, From my building, my videos, and my games; Pull me away for my roleplaying, my online friends, from my one happy place, my digital heaven.
When the headset comes off before I'm ready to remove it,
all the misery from before returns.
It reminds me of the fighting from my family,
the grim and disgusting parts of the world,
and the hell that awaits just beyond the screen.
