Poem

The speech marks represent the start and the end of the stanza, hoping that it makes it more clear to read! Also, it is my first time doing this so all feedback is appreciated haha

"

There are so many thoughts going on inside my head

Sometimes it's difficult to get out of bed

"

"

The anxiety always seems to get in the way

To the point where I'm often left with having nothing to say

"

"

I wish I could be like everyone else

Make friends hang out and go to the mall

But I can't because my anxiety makes me feel so small

"

"

It feels like there's a monster inside of me

It steals all of the words and all of my thoughts

It often leaves me feeling very distraught

"

When a teacher asks me a question in class

I stare down red in the face always having to pass

I'm left feeling embarrassed.

As the other kids laugh.

I wish that someone could speak for me on my behalf!

To get out all the words I want to scream and shout and say, so I don't have to feel so

Alone

"

I've run out of things to say for now

So I guess that is it from me

I can't believe I've gotten these words out somehow

"

"

If there's one thing I want you to know about me

Is that I'm not a weirdo or a loner

I just wish that I could be like everyone else, and set myself free

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.
