Other hardware killing hard disks?
I'm not too sure if there is a better subreddit for a post like this, and unfortunately I'm on mobile so I can't even really check for a more relevant sub, but I digress.
I've been trying to put together a modest build for about 2 months now, but have been using my old POS system that I've known has been dying for ages.
I've known that the 150gig HD I've had was dying and put up with it. Eventually, it wouldn't be recognized at all by the mobo, and it was shot. I've had another 320 sitting around I got from a friend that wasn't new, but was never really used much. Long story short, data ended up getting corrupted on this HD (which never happened on the first. It only stuttered like mad and stalled/hung) and it was having trouble loading my windows account because of corrupt data. This has gone on for about two days now until I got home today and tried turning it on, and once again the BIOS will not detect a bootable drive at all.
Cutting to the question, is there a possibility of some hardware issue burning my hard disks? Is there a basic precaution or remedy that I am missing to fix the solution?
I'd give out specs but I really have no idea what is relevant, if anything and once again, from mobile it's a pain in the ass to write a list of any sort.
Thanks a bunch for taking the time to read, and any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated.
