Solar Prices in SE Michigan - $4.25/Watt?

Hi All,

Anyone here from southeast Michigan? What kind of prices are you guys seeing in recent quotes? I have multiple quotes and they are all about $4.25/Watt cash. Doesn't matter if Solaredge and Q-Cells or REC and Enphase, all $4.25/watt. Seems odd to me. Does anyone have any points of comparison? Thanks!

Price per watt can be the same because there is so much built into the install fee. They can just say you need a 10kw system and charge you $42.5k. Or if you need a 15kw system, they'd charge you $63,750. Equipment either way is costing them no more than $2/watt. Possibly less than $1.50 a watt on larger systems.

Either way, $4.25 is too high anywhere.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I'm just getting discouraged with all the quotes I see on this subreddit that are lower than mine, but everyone still says they are too expensive haha!

Give “Solar is Freedom” company a shot. They are an Ohio company, manage installations across the state and might be able to do it for you. I have a buddy who works there.

Assuming you are speaking about cash price I know for a fact it can be done for considerably less.

Yep, all cash prices. It seemed high but I wanted to make sure it wasn't normal for my area.

I'm looking at a proposal that comes out to $3.57/KW theoretical (21x405w), micro-inverters no battery, cash, pre-credit.

If I add a battery it brings me to just over $5.88/KW, string instead of micro.

Western Wayne county here. Really on the fence between the battery+string vs. using the micro-inverters.

If you tell me that your quote includes a battery, then I'll trade my quote for yours ;-)

Nope no battery here, the one quote I have with a battery is within a few cents of your quote if that helps.

It does help. Thanks! And good luck with your project.
