I didn't even think of the LOTR with the eye of Sauron! This is probably the shortest poem I've ever written, I've never been one to be so brief. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the words!

Candle eyes moon had me thinking of LOTR for a second, but that second line with it 🤯 
The imagery and the brevity is 🔥  🙌

I do try my best to get the theme to show throughout any of the things I write, both with subtle and not so subtle touches. Any strong emotion I think does burn intensely then eventually winds down until ignited once more. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the words!

Love the cyclical structure used in this poem, and the semantic field of fire that permeates through the whole thing. The fire metaphor describing lust as fleeting, yet blazing in the moment is very cool.

Poems and emotions are sort of kindred spirits I'd say. Emotions, good or bad, often give birth to the most beautiful works. Thoughts, memories, fantasies, dreams; I think our mind sometimes is just filled with embers of things waiting to be ignited or the embers of our past. I love the name of the poem, poems are a kind of "mind ember" and so are the emotions that fuel them, especially when the poem deals so much with light and heat. Love it

I think this may be the shortest poem I've constructed, it's hard for me to create things that make sense to myself and be brief but I am proud of succeeding in that with this one. It just felt off to keep it going. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the words!
