On first read, all I wanted to say was you're deserving of love, but then after reading it a second time, I feel like you're speaking to a love lost, not lack of self love. 

It can be a monumental task to move on. The comfort, care, and compassion found in so few arms makes it hard to be hopeful after love is gone. There's no magical words to help speed the healing, nor is there a spell to reveal the next romance of life. The only thing that comes to mind is: sorry friend.

I like that you can read this on different levels: The first one being the obvious battle to deal with your love for someone that you‘re not supposed to love, be it because they dont love you back or because you‘re unable to be together. And the second level being the fight with death that at first seems to follow the realization that love can not be in the third paragraph. But when I reread the poem I can detect hints of that secondary fight that seem to show that both fights happen at the same time, therefore not being the aftermath of one another but being entangled

I love this writing and I can wholeheartedly relate so it makes it that much more significant. The longing to feel love but the suffering that takes place to attain it. Why should we have to suffer in order to receive true unconditional love? Never made sense to me, but this prompt has explained the feeling of separation and union pretty well. Very well said!

The love I forbid myself to feel.
Confused and ever knowing how to deal
My heartstrings violently tugged upon,
Everyday from dusk till dawn.

I wonder if i’ll ever learn, 
To someday smile &amp; never yearn. 
For love that’s not for me to have
And pain that keeps on haunting me.

Exhausted and quite defeated, 
I feel that I am no longer here. 
In the moment that I can finally say,
I am home, in your arms my dear.
