RIP Damini
This was penned down a decade ago in response to a heinous crime that shook the country.
As a kid we were taught,
That good wins over bad,
Who would have thought that the truth will be so sad,
We used to root for the good guy,
No matter how bad it looked for him,
And we all pitied the bad guy,
Because we knew somewhere in,
No matter how hard he try,
Bad guys never win.
Or do they?
What happened?
Women were their world once,
When they were small,
Mother responsible for their nascence,
Have they forgotten all?
Doing deeds that give grievance,
Making their mother want to do penance,
She gave birth to a monster,
Who doesn't have a shred of reverence,
Animals, with no temperance.
When did the small flower become a thorn?
What happened?
A girl, it was just a day for her,
Laughing and happy, going home,
Everything destroyed in a moment's spur,
Heinousness she couldn't deter,
An act that shakes soul,
when we just hear,
How ghastly it would have been for her,
she had to bear.
What fault did she incur?
How did being a girl become a fault?
What happened?
Where does this go from here?
The girl couldn't make it,
Do we just like and share?
Or give the tat for tit?
And don't take this an excuse,
To put more restraints on the girls,
Chain those animals, let's eschews,
They are not responsible for their fails.
We need strict laws,
To show these animals,
They don't get a free pass,
But just government can't do all,
We as a society have to decide,
Not to just stand like a wall,
When wrong happens.
This should be a shake, for all you know,
Next could be your wife, sister, or mother.
How many more Damini will it take,
To break the people's slumber?
We used to be better, we used to be civil.
What happened?
RIP Damini!
