A Muted Perfection (Revision)
There’s a geometry to death
A measured and muted perfection
Tombstones are set apart from each other by this much
Rows are placed away from each other by that much
Angles remain as your point of view changes..
Reading neat lines that reach to the horizon..
Not in a book, but a diagram
A mathematic order replacing chaos
After individual lives of infinite choices, strangers fit in and form a perfect pattern..
A quilted blanket, providing no warmth
Long after one ending
Repetition brings focus to eternity
Sight becomes study
Planes become hills
Angles become arcs
Rows and columns curve
Stretching away and towards each other
Drawing a subtle breath in the silence
Look closer..
An irregular space divides these neighbors
This one, darker with age
That one with the newly wilted flowers..
Forever is shattered
It was never perfect
Come away from this defiled greenery
and you realize cemeteries share designs with crops and constellations
You read carefully composed lines that reach to the horizon
..Lines of grain and death and stars and spice
