"Gilded Cage"

Poem

I live my life in a gilded cage,

I have every Thing to be fulfilled.

Yet, at my golden age,

I feel like no one and I live unfulfilled.

I've lived my life in a gilded cage,

In which I had no scarcity of Things to be thrilled.

Yet, with my life losing luster every day, nothing can assuage;

I've yearned to be someone and to live fulfilled.

I’ve seen others living away from their cage,

In which they have no abundance of Things to be thrilled.

Yet, their life is still glowing at their young age;

Intertwined with the world, not Things, they live fulfilled.

I sometimes wonder whether I truly "lived" in this gilded cage.

I keep no memories of the world, only years of warmth chilled.

Yet, my life still beckons, I can still break free from my gilded cage:

“I shall not decay in this gilded cage, I shall live fulfilled!"
