I never got the chance sadly. He passed away before I was ever able to afford to go to conventions. But all I know of him is he's a great guy. The most famous story is probably how a fan told him Star Trek kept them from killing themselves and Doohan insisted he see that fan at the next convention. And the next one. And the next one.
I met him twice, once when I was a little kid and another time as a teen at the state fair. He seemed like a really nice guy.
