I don't know what people told you, but overall the answer was always "japan wasn't going to be the next setting as there is GoT" and it turned out to be true. I don't think someone is dumb enough to think ubisoft would skip japan.
I’m just saying: during one of those questions “Where should the next AC game be situated?” I said something to the effect of feudal Japan and I was derided for it. I’m not speaking to anyone’s but my own experience.
