Sir Alonne OST and Speculative Lyrics (Added Source!)
Hello! I found an oddity in the translation I used so I remade the post, my apologies to the mods.
I know the title has been done to death but I promise I have a good reason for it. This post is meant to be an archive for a lost media.
Continuing on my DS2 adventure, I recently finished the Crown of the Sunken King (Sinh my beloved) and now I am hacking away at Brume Tower. Really loving it so far, though I've only now activated the elevators so I've yet to see a lot I presume. The level design and scenery is something else. Baiting the soldiers where they can't follow me (which is any ladder, really) is my current level highlight, as well as making the big dudes explode themselves by setting the barrel workers on fire.
Either way, out of curiosity, and as I knew the bosses that await me down the road (just down the road!), I listened to Alonne's theme.
And then I wouldn't stop listening to it for several hours. Those background violins gave me chills every time.
Which brings me to the point of this post. See, a video was recently posted in the meme sub which referenced a specific interpretation of the supposed Latin in Sir Alonne's theme. I got immensely curious about this, and went exploring further, as well as to verify if the language the OST used was actually Latin or faux Latin, or some other gibberish. And I come bearing bad news.

This particular version, which I presume was popular at the time (Vaati talked about it on Twitter I guess, assuming it's the same one), contained in a YouTube video, has been made unavailable. I think this might have happened along the recent copyright wipe of DS music, as the most recent reference to the lyrics in one of the presumed lost videos is from April this year. Which just makes me sad, man.

I... tried to find an answer to question n.2, but research was inconclusive. Some people cite user Hellkite Drake on YouTube for supposedly debunking that there were Latin lyrics in Sir Alonne, however, judging by the amount of videos titled "Hellkite Drake (Reupload)" it seems they either deleted or were sniped. While yes, many of their videos have been reuploaded, a great feat, there doesn't seem to be a Sir Alonne among them. If you happen to have this video archived, or know where it is, please comment!

Yes, there was an entry on Lyricsprint and similar lyrics websites. Most appear to be gone* now :(
*ADDENDUM: One is accessible through the wayback machine
However, even if Sir Alonne's lyrics are just gibberish, I can't help thinking that by losing this piece of work we are losing something valuable. So thank fucking god I managed to find the full lyrics archived on a French person's blog as well as on a Russian lyrics website, in full, both Latin and English, as well as their French translation in the former case. As reddit has integration with backup websites, such as the wayback machine and reveddit, I thought the smartest decision would have been to post them here for safekeeping.
Here's the blog entry itself in case someone wants to make an archive for themselves.
And here is the Russian entry
In case the blogs are ever removed, here are the lyrics themselves. I am going to cite both sources here, one after the other, separated by an "/" where differences between them are present. The two versions are (I theorize) based on different videos (codes QZ86mmb5zF and svtVB0BvDPg) but they share similarities, and thus I believed it wise to include both. I can't say for sure, but I think the Russian site (SRC2) might be more accurate to the lyrics most people were familiar.
Latin: (SRC 1 / SRC 2)
San it ere das. / Sanguinis ere das
Epe,
Epe luram per.
Ubi nobis,
Ad Ferrum Rex,
Tibis regnum !
.
Deus se e legia, e bit.
Va, sed vulcane,
Ubi nobis.
.
Tibe ausi, des une dome no abi.
Abi, sed vac si…?
(russian source may imply there was a line after this, but it was unclear/inaudible)
.
Rege vox ie
Per tu ave,
Ute ubi, sanctis. / Ut tibu vi sanctis
. (this stanza is only in the russian source and not present in the french one):
Sancti si per san di
En vui.
Altar re vult...
.
It en vult
Vult secre tua,
En begine.
Ita vita vult.
Ignis en vult !
Vi socis versa.
.
Go Alonne.
Et vac si…
.
Rex ute
Ab et ubi serene et,
Ausi renture obscae, etsi,
Ipse abit.
Abit.
English: (Can't verify the accuracy of the translation, unfortunately, give suggestions if ones exist!)
You give it the blood of humans. / You freely give blood
Chains,
The rights of the chains.
Where we are,
The Iron King,
Your kingdom !
.
God himself from the law, the will. / God himself, out of free will
Ah, but the volcanoes,
Where we are.
.
Thyself, they will not let you leave home.
Go, but woe if…?
.
The King was the voice
You were hailed by,
When used, holy. / To force holy ties
.
(Russian Source Only):
If the blood of the gods
it sees bleeding
it can take anything it wants
.
See it, it wants
Your secret wishes,
The Queen.
So to does life wish.
See, he covets fire !
Partners turned to violence.
.
I am Alonne (I am saved.)
But, woe if...?
.
The King
Discerned from the calm,
Presumed they were of the dark, though.
He departs.
Departs.
Closing food for thought: I am a bit of a lost media enthusiast and made an effort in archiving things I care about before. Even if these lyrics are "not real" in the same sense that the recent fan translations of ER aren't, I still think it could enhance someone's experience hearing the OST. People from a few years ago really seemed to care about this version in particular, which is why I chose to do this. I know there are a few veteran fans on here and I'm curious to hear your thoughts. In addition, though as I said the video can't be found, people referring to it claimed it was a work of a user called "leder hosen", so I am indirectly thanking them for their work as well.
