I like this poem. I read it a total of 4 times. I can visualize it as if I were reading an engrossing book or reading a script from a movie screen. My favorite lines were:

the fish doesn’t panic and jump  
it doesn’t know and doesn’t care  
that there is no water beyond these callouses’ care.  
Be patient and trust me little fish  
read my palm lines  
nibble some dry skin  
we have some distance to cover

I can see someone carefully picking up a fish. A small fish afraid and prob. thrashing a small bit but then tries to nibble your hand a bit. I can see you both moving slowly as you are transporting the fish to a new water area - perhaps a small tank for a pet, maybe a new section of lake, etc...

I like poems like this. I'm going to save this so I can read it again tomorrow morning. Beautiful poem. It's perfect for uplifting and calming the spirit in the morning.

I like this, it has a calming sense to it. Like, almost comforting.

Cusping the palms

I wait

for it to come within

lifting it up gently

the water is less but just enough

the water drips

the journey is short

moving this fish from one water to water

nimble footed, tippy toes, and slow

you’ve got to ensure

the fish doesn’t panic and jump

it doesn’t know and doesn’t care

that there is no water beyond these callouses’ care.

Be patient and trust me little fish

read my palm lines

nibble some dry skin

we have some distance to cover

the water will rock  

some moments of panic

soon shall my eager fish, this be over.
