Bad Hotels

Workshop

One night’s sleep

In a bad hotel

Now I’m left with

Waking nightmares

Horror thoughts

Unable to fall asleep

Feels like bugs

On my skin

Taking bites

Sinking in

Crawling up my legs and thighs

Shoulders, elbows

No where spared

All is itching

Rest is scarce

I’ve checked and checked

Scorched the sheets

Scorched my clothes

The washing machine

Moans at me

Get over it

Nothing got back from your trip

But I cannot sleep

Can’t close my eyes

But to feel I’m

Buried alive

In biting vermin

Switch on the light

Paranoia filled eyes

Search again

Check the corners

Under sheets and under awnings

Nothing there

Back to bed

But I can’t rest

The itch lives on

Fills my head

Frantic scratching

Lights back on

Alarmed what’s that

A thread of yarn

Pulled from my shirt

Had balled up small

Turn the lights back off

Desperate to find

Some quiet in my head to mind

And drift into a place of silence

Some peace!

But I can’t sleep

Feeling this itching

My hands roam careful

Stroke my body

Looking, searching

Something on my skin

There must be something

Living in

They must be

Under my skin

That must be it

I’m going mad

My nails soon pierce

It’s wet and warm

Turn the lights back on

It’s only blood

Nothing else was drawn

Blood and flesh

My heads a mess

My eyes are burning

Thoughts distressed

Always seeing

Tiny mites

It must be bedbugs

But nothings yet

Appeared to see

No visual yet

One bad hotel

Now I’m left like this

A complete wreck

No sleep can get

Past the itch

Reality blends

With phantom bit

And phantom limbs

Tiny crawling

Up my legs

A waking nightmare

All I want

Is peace

i intend to post this to my blog but it doesn’t feel polished. Thoughts?
