Explosher my beloved. Turf War gets vicious sometimes; I don't think I have what it takes to get 99 Superfresh. Like in Splatoon 2, it seems like the Gold Flag is still just a personal milestone. No special badge, banner, or even a title!

In my 5years of playing splatoon 2 highest freshness I ever got was 36 congrats

Damn. If there's nothing at 50, then I'm guessing there's nothing at 99, either. That sucks. I bounced around 99 for most of the tail end of S2, was hoping we'd see some milestone-related splashtag stuff. Nothing for breaking 2000p inked, either.

I wonder if they specifically wanted all the badges for a weapon to be unlockable for anyone given enough time. Like how the new freshness star rating is a one-way street, and you get stuff for X wins with your weapon, which anyone can eventually achieve.

What does that meter mean? I'm assuming basically like your recent performance/winstreak with that weapon?

winstreak...sorta. It doesn't reset on loss, but the rate of decay is greater, the higher your freshness.

Flag freshness is your performance with said weapon.

Damn dude! That’s awesome!! I’m lucky to even get to Smokin’ with my main (splattershot pro) these days 😅

I've been playing a lot this past week since I got the game but I'm still like freshness 4-5. Gotta love long loss streaks followed by 1-2 wins :/

What does each level give you/do?

I'm at 16.5 freshness with splasho and that's when I'm lucky. I can never maintain it.

Is there ever an end to that fresh streak? Or does it just go infinitely high with never ending new titles/colors. Like is there a point where no matter how much higher you go you won’t get a new freshness streak thing?

It caps at 99

I now have a new goal

It’s not too bad to get in this game since you can queue in turf with your friends. A few friends and I got 99 recently, much easier than the last game. It’s still +1 or -3 when you’re past 50, but splat 2 definitely made it harder since it was more like solo q and not league

Any advices for a new Explosher fan (build, general tips)? I Just started with it 10 days ago and that thing is now one of my favorite.

Can’t believe I never gave it a go in Splatoon 2.

Keep a few meters of ink and at least one teammate in front of you and just keep spittin’ fireballs. Make sure you have a getaway route if an enemy is going to close in on you. Think of each shot like a glue bomb; if it hits the feet of your enemy they will be forced to paint their way out. Try to use your superior range and flexible shots to paint swim routes and walls for your team before they reach them.

Use your sensor to funnel enemies through one lane. Anyone tagged by your secondary is effectively banned from your radius unless they like respawning. Your primary is incredibly effective at inking turf so weaponize your special. Use your ink storm to push on the enemy team or to keep them from taking vital ground as it can leave them vulnerable to a one-shot with its damage over time (only 10 damage needed.)

I personally like to run Main Saver and Ink Recovery to keep on the attack. A little Swim Speed and Ink Resistance help with get-aways when things turn sour.

MaxMinerva gave a lot of great pointers. Explosher's range and arcing shots let it ignore enemy cover and allows you to attack safely behind cover as well. Keep in mind that a lot of backliners can splat you faster than you can, so try to hit 'em in their blind spots and use Ink Storm to flush 'em out if you can't.

You get an exp boost to your level. Mostly they make you feel good about yourself and you can flex

Sadly it seems they changed it in Splatoon 3 and removed the xp bonus. I had gotten past 5 and 10 and didn't notice xp then I finally got to 15 and definitely didn't get xp. I am very disappointed as that was something I would've grinded all the weapons for.

Thanks for the confirmation. With splatfest I increased my freshness a lot and didn't notice the xp bonus but thought I just forgot to look
