I lived in Texas during the winter storm that knocked out power, and my company was actually bitching about me missing days due to the power being out.

People were literally dying, and the company was complaining about missed work.

“Look, it’s just some mild frostbite you can still make it in for a shift. Besides, fingers and toes are overrated anyway.”

I thankfully had a boss that understood I could do nothing due to loss of power and internet. We were still working from home, and I was wondering what I was going to do about not being able to work and missing a week of pay. Asked boss how I should put in my time since I didn't work. He said go ahead and put in 40 hrs, it's not your fault your power was out. He did a solid for those on my team that were down due to no power.

I'm pretty sure there is a US government measure of how severe a disaster is based on how quickly waffle house opens back up.

Reminds me of that scene from Threads where people had to plant the fields after the apocalypse

On Time? You will report 5 hours early to clean the nuclear residue.

Nothing to see here, you should definitely stay in place, New Zealand is perfectly safe and the supervolcano is just mildly causing tremors, not a problem in the slightest. /s

"we need you to cover for the 20 employees that were at the wrong place at the wrong time"

Do you have a doctors note?

Uhh yeah, so, we still need you on site for the 9am standup, so if you could just make sure you're here on time, that'd be great.

Hey man, look, let’s be real…that email is important. And that TPS cover sheet that is attached but never looked at, priceless. Make sure you don’t go idle for more than 10 min.
