Bird Language
What a bird would say to a human.
"Hello there, strange Ape:
With long branches that move and sway Not with the wind,
But possessed by a world nestled within-
A worm tunneling its way through an apple-
Writhing against the perennial milieu.
And with two stout trunks-how quaint!
Plodding through the zoetic verdure with coppicing thuds;
Perhaps you do not realize there is much life in that mud?
And with your chips that sound like bellows-
The way the breeze moves through the trees and moans and groans.
But your hollering gusts just move the limbsof your ape-ish companions:
Acoustics concealing the marionettists' strings.
So then, by what reason do you guide yourselves?
Unyoked from the ecology of your surroundings,
The world cascades into a jumble of puzzle pieces you fidget with clumsily.
Perhaps you should take a dance lesson from a bee,
Or listen to our bird songs with a curious ear, for you may hear,
The guiding logic of all things:
Behold the world as it jives and sings!"
