At the moment it's just my stuff on there, so I'd love it if people checked out the site and potentially submitted something to be published. Would love a little community to develop out of this.

Something really draws me in about the first haiku, I think it’s the imagery. All three are very very thought provoking, but that first one is beautiful to me. I believe that the way it calls back to my religious guilt about leaving the church is really draws me too it but like lol, yk?. You are very talented!! Keep it up :)

I've never written a haiku before but I find them very interesting. Especially here where the haikus, while short, tell so much. I agree with another comment where they felt that there was a riddle to be solved. This makes the haikus so intriguing and makes me really want to spend time on each individual word. I enjoyed reading the first one and I feel there are many interpretation that can be made. I really like how all the haikus tie back to the title but in differing ways.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.

I am fighting the urge to write my comment exclusively on what I think each haiku means. That's good. It means that there is a riddle to be solved, meanings to be understood. There is an opportunity for the audience to get their 'heureka' moment, and I believe there are as many 'heureka':s as there are readers.

The contrast between each haiku kept me focused. The first one was... uhh... for the lack of a better word, poetic. It was emotionally striking and painted an image with words (very powerfully, might I add). This seemed intentional. In the second and the third haiku the intention was more hidden. Haiku no. 2 gave the topic of religious freedom a playful spin. The text message riddled with spelling mistakes gave the haiku interesting texture. Haiku 3. seemed almost like a news article. It was matter-of-fact and did not clearly attempt to appeal to the reader's emotions. Yet, the last line left me shocked and saddened for the very real state of the world.
