Some may relate to this. Some won’t.

Poem

If we’re soulmates, as she once said.

If we’ve both grown as separate individuals, interconnected by another…

If chance gives as it had once before.

Our love may see the light of day once more.

I love the simplistic expression of hope in her love ❤️

Sometimes hope is all we have

This was a sweet poem. Made me feel "lovey." As I understand this poem is about two lovers who have separated but, if they're soulmates, they will see each other again. It's like the proverb "If you love something set it free, if it comes back it was meant to be." Great poem thanks for sharing.

I can relate to this a lot. Currently going through this. Had to end things because things took a turn down the road and we are both hoping to work on ourselves and hopefully meet one day again. It hurts, but hope is all that’s helping

“We both need to work on ourselves, and maybe a couple years from now, we can try again”

I appreciate your ability to pull on the heartstrings. Somehow, it gives me hope and also a tinge of sorrow for the future of my relationship with my ex or another soulmate, with the tangency to allow me to grow as an individual. I want someone in my life with this mindset. Great poem!

That means a lot. Thank you!

I think simple is best here - it's somber, yet hopeful, and real. Time will tell all. Great job, my friend.

I really like the last two lines but think the second line could be broken into two.

I appreciate the insight. However I would have to disagree here. Splitting that line would give less meaning to the connection between the beginning to the end. In my humble opinion.

I always love simplicity in poems, yet never find myself able to do it as I love to go on and on. I think this is the epitome of short and sweet, truly love it great work.

I feel at times I can do both, thought I prefer it to be short yet meaningful. Thank you!

That hope is what keeps hearts beating. :)

10/10. This was wonderful to feel.

I almost kept it to myself but I’m glad I didn’t. Thank you!

I love how each line starts with “if” up until the end where it’s “our love,” really giving emphasis on the poems concept that the love between the two individuals is based purely on serendipity. Definitely makes me feel hopeful yet hopeless at the same time. Well done!

This poem captures my feelings pretty accurately as someone who just had had a engagement end. We’re working on ourselves and I hope at some point we can get back to what we had. Your poem captures that hope I feel. I think the simplicity and shortness add to it overall as well. Good work.

I’m sorry to hear that. If it’s meant to be, it will be. That’s what I’m trying to remind myself of, although it seems like things aren’t where I want, maybe someday

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that.
