Back you've gone, to your home of homes
To the keep you'll always keep
Wandering around those hazy halls
Deeper in in deeper sleep
"Was this place so ever gloom before?"
Perhaps you've come to stop and think
"I knew well my back was feeling sore,
yet my soul seems darker than once deemed"
Around the corner wrong you treaded
Though made you but a peep
Saw you did a sight quite dreaded
And well it heard you weep
Rumbling, crumbling, the walls wear down
Asylum turned to agony
Bumbling, stumbling, you flail around
From your self you try and flee
You flop about, your legs give out
You shatter piece by piece
You sweat, you sob, you scream, you shout
But alone you do not grieve
"Your panicked prance was quite the show
And your broken husk a sight to see
Now why, pray tell, though I already know,
Have you yet come to face me?"
The room caves in, the air grows thin,
It turns a daunting chore to breathe
"You've fed me well since you took me in
Let me repay that charity."
With one last shred of spirit,
One last ounce of agency,
Out you cry whilst out your wit
"I wish dearly to be free!"
And with but a thought the dream was naught
The nightmare forced to cede
Though wise you'd be to mistake it not
For but an eerie fantasy
"Back again you'll come someday
And come will you to see
Freer were you here with me,
Then there you'll ever be"
