For when I don't feel human
I feel like the moon, sitting bloated and heavy in the sky. She does not stand proudly against the night, instead she softens and retreats into the skyline, too exhausted to feel any shame.
Do you blame the moon for cowering between the clouds?
Or a shooting star for spinning out of control?
Do you blame a black hole for its appetite? Aimless and insatiable.
Do you blame me?
I feel like the sea, crashing and temperamental, governed by the whims of the wind and straining against the pulls of the tides. Yearning for peace like the waves yearn to reach the shore. Endlessly.
Do you blame fish for being swept away by an agitated ocean?
Or the cliffs for eroding and crumbling?
Do you blame the water for tiring and growing cold? Defeated and enslaved.
Do you blame me?
I feel like the earth, discarded, and abused, considered dirty or often not considered at all, no one to notice when the autumn leaves drip with decay, or spring lambs tear into life, bloody and singing.
Do you blame the winter path for hiding in the snow?
Or thunderclaps for applauding too loudly?
Do you blame September fruits for being too full and fat with sugar? Indulgent and shameless.
Do you blame me?
Sometimes it's hard to feel human.
I’m as lonely as the moon, as frustrated as the sea, and as invisible as the earth.
So why do you blame me?
