Twice-Stained Glass

Poem

Shattered stained-glass shards
silently scrape against my skin.
I struggle to suppress
my sacrilegious satisfaction.

The fading fragments fall
from a Faith they’d soon forget.
This flurry flirts with profanation
and is full of fear and freedom.

And as I basked beneath
a broken Baroque blockade.
My brain buckled beneath the burden
of the brick that I had thrown.

And my blood stained the glass once more.
