hugged by the world

Poem

I wanted to be hugged by the world

Immersed in the overwhelming warmth

And drown in it

I wanted to let the rage unfurl

Let the vast oceans wrap it in cloth

And weep with it.

I wanted to walk like them

Find a place where I need to be

And someone to be with

I wanted life to seem less grim

Like a chair who’s only lonely

Based on who’s sat in it.

I wanted to be hugged by the world

I didn’t care if it crushed me

An overwhelming feeling of closeness

To shut out a sea of meaning.

I wanted a distance of longing

And a hated sense of belonging

To ignore that I was falling,

Hugged by the world.

Felt super lonely, so I wrote this poem on a whim :)
