Meds

I know nothing about this. Are there natural cures or any meds for menopause? More precisely after menopause I'm only 67 and feel like I'm 87! That is the most extreme symptom among others. Please talk to me about natural medicine

Please have a read through our Menopause Wiki to get you started. If you've gone more than 10 years without estrogen (ie: more than 10 years since your last period), then MHT/HRT may not be an option for you. Starting estrogren after the age of 60 AND being more than 10 years without estrogen carries more risks than benefits.

Otherwise, there are off label medications that can help with symptoms like hot flashes, and provide preventative benefits to bone loss. There is localized estrogen (a low dose) meant specifically for the vagina to treat atrophy...which is an option no matter what age.

I guess it just comes down to what's bothering you, but things like eating well exercising regularly will definitely help with many things (anxiety, stress, sleep, bone loss, heart health, etc). If you haven't yet you want to get a bone density scan to see where you're at. Weight bearing/strength exercises key to preventing further loss.

Thank you. I can't do much about the stress but I'll talk to my Dr about the estrogen.

Hello, I do compounded HRT therapy and have for several years. They are bio identical and have worked really well for me. They are pricy, I pay 195.00 for a 3 month supply and it isn't covered by insurance. It really has helped my with my moods, energy levels and joint pain. I tease my friends and say that the hormones are the only reason I don't kill them, jokingly of course, but you know.... LOL

Good luck in your search and I hope you can find some relief.
