Proper Adobe RGB to Rec. 709 workflow?
I’m on a project where retouched still images are being supplied in the Adobe RGB (1998) color space. It’s too late to ask the retouchers to work in a different color space because the images have been already approved by creative team.
I am now using those images in AE to layer with animations. Upon import the images look different than viewing in Finder/Preview. Color and gamma are off. I tried different combinations of changing the Interpret settings per image as well as Display Color Management but nothing looks correct. I would like these videos to be in the Rec. 709 space so what workflow should I be using to get accurate color from the still images in my final renders (H.264) ? Is there an Adobe RGB to Rec. 709 LUT I can use?
I can post examples tomorrow when I’m back online if that will help.
Thanks!

Rec 709 uses scene referred and EOTF 2.4 gamma. Adobe RGB is display referred and is 2.2000 pure gamma. So decode to linear with 2.2 gamma and then encode, while compensating for black point to 2.4 gamma.
