Near Collision

The car sped through the city skyline
Stretched out my arms all the time

The road went on forever
The radio blasted over and over

Like a thrilling montage of a movie
Everything unfolded like a fantasy

But reality said this was bizzare
Free tickets could only go so far

The skyline collapsed in the distance
The road careened into a deadend

I stepped on the breaks so hard
You swerved the steering wheel so bad

The radio screeched until it snapped.
The car engine breached until it stopped

Before I crash for a millionth time
I parked the car as I read the sign

As my body shocked and mind racked, The passenger got off and didn’t look back
