Man on the Moon

Poem
Someday I’ll lose you to the moon. I’ll watch you in the sky lounging comfortably with stars and feel a longing for your lips that will tear my limbs apart.

My hands will fumble sightlessly for ribbons, twine, and thread, My legs will carry to me the promises we had, my arms will hold inside of them the map of all the stars, and my chest will lead the way to you guided by my heart.I’ll tie myself a noose of scraps and lasso down the crescent. My feet will step through hollowed clouds and trip in haste to catch you.

I’ll feel your warmth and hold you tight for long cycles round the sun, and when we finally part our skin, I’ll find my body newly done.

You’ll hold my hands inside of yours and step into the black, eyes locked in and souls entangled I’m sure there’s no way back.

Eons in and centuries down we’ll find each other plenty, seeking your lips and laugh and face no matter length or distance.

I have called you many times and many more you’ve come, a god forever held to me while we circle round the sun.
