[WTS] A great mix of certified US type - from $10 to $6000 including a proof $10 Liberty, an MS68 Morgan, and more...

Good day Reddit! On this fine Friday I'm sharing a super fun mix of certified US Type for your coin consumption consideration. On the menu today is something for everyone - whether your budget is $10 or $10000 :)

PROOF70

I really try to be more than fair in my pricing and, when available, include recent comps. If I buy the coin well, I'll pass along the good pricing when it comes time to sell.

I'll go in Red Book order because I am not a monster:

1917 Lincoln Cent - PCGS MS65RB - $150 - This is a beautiful, gem Lincoln with red-brown "woodgrain" coloration. It's a stunning coin with bold luster. Greysheet bid $135, PCGS Retail $225. Recent auction sales: $200, $210, $154, $185.

1931-S Lincoln Cent - NGC MS65RD - $550 - A great example of the key 1931-S. Bright red w/ super flashy bold luster. Greysheet bid $500, PCGS retail $700. Recent auction sales: $590, $560, $645, $700, $560.

1865 3CN - PCGS PR64 - $2200 - This is a very rare, first-year of issue, Civil War proof. Mintage of 500 pieces. Greysheet bid $2200, PCGS Retail $3000. There aren't many recent sales because these are rare, but the last sale of a PCGS PR64 was HA in '20 for $2520 (back when Greysheet bid was $1500), and before that at Bonham's in '17 for $2106.

1834 "Large 4" Capped Bust 10c - ANACS MS63 - $1300 - Early dimes are super fun. This is a bright, boldly-struck mint state example. Some nice peripheral toning to give it some character (pure blast white is boring on classic coins like this). Greysheet bid $1440, PCGS retail $2250. There aren't a lot of comps because these are hard to find in higher grade, but the last sale of one was in 2020 @ GreatCollections for $1475.

1940 Mercury 10c - NGC MS67 - $60 - A nearly-flawless, vivid, blast white Mercury dime. Alas, struck with later-state dies so there were no bands to be split, but that's why she's $60 and not $200 :) Greysheet bid $48, PCGS retail $125. Recent sales $62, $72, $90, $115, $76.

1891 Seated 25c - NGC MS64 - $750 - Make sure you check out the video of this guy - the static photos don't do it justice. BOLD luster (the surfaces are like silk) and a nice aged crust. Really love this coin. Greysheet bid $600, PCGS retail $1100. Recent sales $608 (uggo coin), $1000, $720, $960.

1932-D Washington 25c - NGC AU58 - $650 - The key date of the series. Bright, white, frosty, and juuuuuust the slightest hint of rub on the high points to keep this from a solid MS63-64. Greysheet bid $600, PCGS retail $800. Recent sales are kinda all over the map (some nice coins, some dull) - $800, $546, $630, $775, $1100.

1994-S Silver Washington 25c - NGC PR69 Ultra Cameo - [SOLD] - I'm not sure why someone spent $30+ getting this slabbed, but they were probably aiming for a 70 (and even then it would only be worth $30 lol). Anyway, it's a fun, basically perfect, deep cameo proof silver quarter and it's only $10!

1807 Capped Bust 50c, Large Stars 50/20 - NGC XF45 - $1400 - A beautiful, gunmetal example of this first-year Capped Bust half dollar. In certain light (see video), you can see super nice lilac and blue bits of toning. A cool coin! The mint was in quite a state back then and you know that because this 50/20 over-denomination is the LESS rare variety :) Greysheet bid $1400, PCGS retail $1700. Recent sales $1440 (2022) and $1500 (2021).

1826 Capped Bust 50c, O-112 Early Die State - ACG MS65 - [SOLD] - This is a super rare, early die state example of the 1826 half dollar, O-112 variety. O-112 in general is not terribly rare, but the die started to deteriorate early, so most examples show a filled "S" in States and later a filled "N" in United. This example has all of the other O-112 characterisitcs but no filled "S" or "N", which means it was early in the life of the die. Accugrade, one of the original grading companies from the mid-80s was probably a bit ambitious in giving this coin MS65 (otherwise it would have a Greysheet of $6000 and PCGS retail of $8750). I'm being a bit more modest in my pricing, but grade it as you will. I might be making a massive undergrading error...

1879-S Morgan $1 - PCI Gold Label MS65DMPL - $650 - A gorgeous, deep mirror prooflike Morgan. The surfaces are like glass and the strike is super bold. PCI is no PCGS or NGC, but their gold label holders are known to be their better-graded coins. Still, I'm not ready to call this (or price it as) a full MS65. Everyone I've shown this says it's a nice 64+, so it's priced accordingly. Greysheet bid for 64DMPL is $425 and for 65DMPL is $1100. PCGS retail for $650 for 64, $750 for 64+, and $1350 for 65.

1881-S Morgan $1 - NGC MS68 - $4000 - A very common date in a VERY uncommon grade. This coin kind of defies description. It has the best and brightest luster I've ever seen on a Morgan dollar (or pehaps any coin) and was absolutely hammer-struck. Note that it's not "prooflike" - that would give it a mirror-like surface and more of a flat look. This coin still has flow lines so it scatters light way better than a mirror and shines WAY brighter. And it's got some nice original toning at the peripheries so it has a delightful original look. It's simply stunning. Greysheet bid $3000, PCGS retail $6000. Recent sales range from $3000-$5300, but none of them look like this.

1921 Peace $1 High Relief - ANACS AU50 - [SOLD] - A solid AU example of the ever-popular (but much less so than in 2021 - ha!) 1921 High Relief Peace Dollar. This was the meme stock coin of 2021 what with the whole 100-year anniversary thing, but prices have come back to earth on non-gem examples (though 65s are still way up there). This is priced aggressively to move. Greysheet bid $290, PCGS retail $420 (heh). Recent sales range from $270-$410.

1903 $10 Liberty - NGC PR58 - $6000 - And last but cerrrrrrtainly not least is the rarest and most awesome coin in this batch. A 1903 $10 Liberty in PROOF 58. Yes, correct, proof. I say that because there just weren't any 1903 Proof $10s made. (Ok, to be technically accurate, there were 96 made, but in the scheme of American coinage, that basically rounds down to 0 :) ) If you were to find another of the 96 for sale, the price would likely be over $20,000. And mayyyyyybe you'd find a slightly less-gem one, but the price would still be over $10,000. So while this stunner is by no means cheap, it's probably the only way you'll be able to have a proof $10 in your collection for less than 5 figures. I bought this coin becuase a) it's ridiculously rare, b) proof gold is awesome, and c) despite the fact that it saw the slightest hint of circulation (which in and of itself is super cool), it's obviously was born a cameo coin, as those deep black mirrors still peek through the friction. Price guide doesn't really work when it comes to coins with mintages like this, but PCGS retail is $6250 if that helps :)

And that's it for now folks! Onto the legalese...

I have an all proof type set. Half cent to dollar. Missing the half cent, large cent, 3c silver, buffalo 5c, 20c, FE, seated dollar, and of course the peace. But otherwise complete. I was thinking of extending up to gold until i got the sticker shock of what it would really take to build a proof gold typeset. Impressive that you have one tho

Oh man that is super super cool! Yeah proof gold is just on a different level in terms of pricing and rarity. Even the tiny little $1s are $xxxx...

This one is <Trade Verified!> minus the brackets. It doesn’t work if you edit the previous comment, so have to make a new one.

Wow! Only the second time I've seen a 68 morgan on here!

Also, that 1807 Half is beautiful, I really like how the older designed CB Halves looked compared to the later dates. Great coins here!

Thanks man! Yeah the Morgan is dope but I’m glad you appreciate the 1807. That coins is a sleeper monster. Will end up in a good home for a good price!
